Frequently Asked Questions > Fee Structure

In addition to the fees disclosed in the BankCard USA Merchant BankCard Services Application and Agreement, the following fees apply to all merchant accounts. Outlined below is each fee as it appears on the monthly processing statement (if applicable) its description, and the applicable charge.
 

     
VOICE-LOC Per-inquiry fee for live voice-authorization requests $1.00 per call

SERVICE
Charge for each inquiry to the FDR Help Desk. To avoid this fee, please first contact our Merchant Services Department at (800) 589-8200 for possible assistance. Most inquiries can be handled directly with Merchant Services at no additional cost. $4.00 per call
DDA CHANGE FEE
Demand-Deposit Account
(merchant checking account)
This fee will be assessed prior to the change of merchant bank account information and will not appear on the monthly processing statement. $25.00 per request
12B LETTER Processing fee for receipt of each retrieval request $5.00 per retrieval request
AVS Address Verification Service (AVS) inquiry fee. An AVS inquiry must be performed on all non-face-to-face
transactions to qualify for the lowest possible discount rate.

CHARGEBACKS Processing fee for receipt of each chargeback received against the merchant

This fee will not appear on the monthly processing statement. Fee for request of documentation previously provided at no cost (for example, monthly processing statements). The greater of $2.00

Batch Header Fee This fee applies to settling a terminal at the end of the business day. Merchant sends their completed transactions for the day to their acquiring bank for payment. $.25 per batch out

     

ACQUIRER PROGRAM SUPPORT FEE (MC)

Assessed on International Interchange categories. Merchants accepting International cards may notice a slight increase in the effective costs of Interchange of 0.15% (15 basis points).

CROSS BORDER (MC)

Assessment for each transaction acquired in the US for non-US issued cards processed. This card type / charge type accommodates transactions where the acquirer settles the transaction using the merchant’s currency code.

ACQUIRER INTERNATIONAL SERVICE ASSESMENT (ISA) (VISA)

This is the fee on U.S. acquired transactions when the issuer country is foreign for both international purchase and cash advance transactions except on a U.S. military base, embassy or consulate.

ACQUIRER PROCESSING FEE (APF) (VISA)

The APF, in the amount of $0.0195, will be applied on all Visa branded authorizations.

INTERNATIONAL ACQUIRER FEE (IAF) (VISA)

Only Visa International transactions will be assessed the 0.45% IAF fee.

ZERO FLOOR LIMIT FEE (VISA)

There will be a fee assessed for transactions in which a settled transaction can not be matched to an approved authorization. Ie; A merchant settles a transaction without a valid approval code (makes up an approval code), Visa will assess a $0.10 per occurrence.

MISUSE OF AUTHORIZATION (VISA)

These fees are assessed on approved or partially-approved authorization transactions that cannot be matched to a clearing (settled) transaction or an authorization reversal.  Clearing must occur within 10 days of authorization for all merchant categories, with the exception of T&E segments, which must clear transactions within 20 days of authorization, regardless of the transaction date. Visa implemented this penalty fee to reduce the occurrence of "ghost authorizations" (authorizations that are approved but never cleared), as these can adversely impact a cardholder's open-to-buy, leading to increased declines and confusion at the point of sale. * If chargebacks exceed one percent (1.0%) of the sales transactions processed in any given month (calculated by dividing the number of chargebacks in any month by the number of sales during that month), you will pay an additional per-item charge established by us for processing such excessive chargebacks.
